You can get the maximum by a minumum level of technology. There is a rating system by microsoft. It goes up to a score of 6 for the best. Choose a computer with the minimum technology needed for this maximum score. Beyond this it will be a waste of your money.

Also if you do not need a computer waiting means two things: better technology and lower price in the future. If it is not pressing waiting is a blessing. The law I think it is Ziphs law is that computer technology doubles in a year and goes down in price by the same amount. You can take advantage of this by waiting. So this is the way to better buy a computer.
