As you may recall from the last episode, Zap was in coding class when he received a future message asking for help to stop a Frankenpire Migration. The message is from the year 2812. What are Frankenpires? And Ayuda means help in Spanish. Will Zap travel to a new country on this adventure? Keep listening to find out.
If you are listening for the first time, we encourage you to hit pause, head on over to episode 1 and catch up on Zap’s adventure so far.
While Zap visits a fictitious future in the middle of a super storm in this episode, in real life a major hurricane hit parts of Mexico on Oct. 25. Zap's adventures focus on helping the future, but let's take a break and help the present. We encourage you to search the internet for the many ways you can donate to the Hurricane Otis relief fund.
[00:00:00] Hello, and welcome to the greatest adventure across time, Zap to the Future!
[00:00:10] Hi, I'm Zap, and I'm here to tell you all about my adventures into the future!
[00:00:14] As you may recall from the last episode, Zap was in coding class when he received a future
[00:00:19] message asking for help to stop a Frank Empire migration.
[00:00:23] The message is from the year 2812, what are Frank empires?
[00:00:27] And that you that means help in Spanish?
[00:00:29] Does that mean Zap travels to a new country on this adventure?
[00:00:32] Keep listening to find out!
[00:00:33] If you are listening for the first time, we encourage you to hit pause, head on over to
[00:00:37] Episode 1 and catch up on Zap's adventure so far.
[00:00:40] For now, we're launching straight into the story, enjoy Zap to the Future Episode 16!
[00:00:45] Ayula, stop the Frank Empire migration!
[00:00:54] This is Sitwell takes a long look at Zap's watch and slowly walks away.
[00:00:59] Zap thinks to himself, Wow, Mrs. Sitwell is acting pretty
[00:01:02] sauce!
[00:01:03] Mrs. Sitwell's suspicious question is quickly forgotten as Zap refocuses on the future message.
[00:01:09] Hmm, Ayula, that's Spanish for help!
[00:01:13] I wonder what the Frank Empire is?
[00:01:17] Good, Gully, schools out!
[00:01:21] I should have time to respond to the time tablet message before scouts!
[00:01:26] If I make it home fast enough!
[00:01:28] Zap leaves coding class quickly.
[00:01:30] He's across the crowded school hallway and sees his buddy Jack.
[00:01:33] Hey, Zap, are you coming to scouts tonight?
[00:01:35] Obviously, I've got to run though.
[00:01:38] See you later, Jack!
[00:01:39] Zap exits through the school doors.
[00:01:41] He passes the line of school buses and kids starting to line up for dismissal.
[00:01:45] Zap lives close to school so he usually walks or rides his bike.
[00:01:49] Zap dashes across the school lawn and the neighborhood.
[00:01:51] He runs down shady Elm Road and waves to Mr. Carl, working on his beautiful lawn.
[00:01:56] Zap catches his breath at the stop sign.
[00:02:00] Then races down Jackson's junction towards his neighborhood.
[00:02:04] Almost home!
[00:02:05] Zap makes it to the front door and goes in.
[00:02:08] Rambo runs up to say hello.
[00:02:09] Good boy Rambo, I'll grab a snack and let you out to the backyard!
[00:02:13] Zap tosses his book bag on the couch and heads to the kitchen.
[00:02:17] He pulls a note off the fridge from his mom.
[00:02:19] Me, whole, I took Jay to the market.
[00:02:21] I'll be back soon for scouts.
[00:02:23] I left you a little snack, heated up in the micro.
[00:02:26] Love you!
[00:02:27] Zap opens the fridge.
[00:02:28] His snack is a plate of picadillo con arroz y frijoles negro, half a banana and some leftover
[00:02:34] mac and cheese.
[00:02:35] Yes, thanks mom!
[00:02:36] Zap puts the plate in the microwave and hits a minute.
[00:02:39] He eats the cold banana while the microwave runs.
[00:02:46] Zap grabs the hot plate and opens the patio door.
[00:02:48] Rambo runs out and scares off a neighbor's cat.
[00:02:51] Zap splits some arroz and picadillo with Rambo.
[00:02:54] Rambo loves mom's Latin cooking.
[00:02:56] Zap climbs up his tree fort, pulls up the ladder and closes the trap door.
[00:03:00] He double taps the wristwatch.
[00:03:03] The watch transforms into the time tablet.
[00:03:05] Zap reads the future message title again.
[00:03:07] 28-12?
[00:03:08] Ayyosa helps stop the Frankenpire migration!
[00:03:13] Let me play this message.
[00:03:18] Zap taps the time tablet and opens the message.
[00:03:23] Breaking news!
[00:03:24] Zap, desigitamos ayuda, we need your help!
[00:03:28] Los Frankenpires in Mexico get out Frankenpire!
[00:03:31] Auxiliary!
[00:03:32] Uh oh!
[00:03:33] First garbage in France?
[00:03:35] Now Frankenpires in Mexico sounds like it's time for a vacation!
[00:03:40] Zap hits reply under the message and the screen changes to a countdown that says time
[00:03:45] port jump initiated.
[00:03:47] Countdown 5, 4!
[00:03:49] I think I'm finally getting used to this!
[00:03:52] 3, 2, 1!
[00:03:58] Zap puts on his time sheets as the tree fort fills with a light-of-scope of colors.
[00:04:02] The time tablet releases a spurred of time taking up.
[00:04:05] Zap can see the bright red purple and green streaks of light whizz by as the hairs on the
[00:04:11] back of his neck and arms stand up.
[00:04:15] Then as quickly as the lights appear, they are gone.
[00:04:18] Zap opens his eyes but he can barely stand up straight.
[00:04:21] There's a strong wind blowing from every direction.
[00:04:24] Storm clouds are above him as far as his eyes can see and it's pouring rain.
[00:04:29] Zap looks around for some place to take cover but he can't find anywhere to stay dry.
[00:04:34] He notices that the buildings around him are all perfectly cute concrete blocks.
[00:04:39] In place of street signs there are large concrete columns with various names across them.
[00:04:44] There are palm trees swaying in the wind so much, they're being bent almost to the ground
[00:04:49] and then boomeranging up as the winds pick up and slow down.
[00:04:53] This doesn't feel like a vacation where am I?
[00:05:05] Through the hummin' roar of the strong winds Zap hears a strange sound.
[00:05:11] Coming towards him from the corner of a building, Zap sees a large green tall figure.
[00:05:19] It's slowly taking one step at a time, groaning.
[00:05:23] He sees while it moves slowly it seems unwazed by the winds.
[00:05:27] It has pale skin, a metal knob on each side of its neck combed back black hair, a red
[00:05:33] bow tie, a long black and red cape and as it approaches Zap sees fangs each time it
[00:05:39] hisses.
[00:05:40] Zap looks around to his left he sees a two story building with window shutters and tenas
[00:05:54] on the roof and a bright red number seven on top.
[00:05:56] Below it he sees a sign that says,
[00:06:00] Centro Nodiciero y Etacione de Monitorio de Clima.
[00:06:03] He sees what looks like the entrance of the building.
[00:06:06] Why?
[00:06:07] All sleek mellow doors.
[00:06:16] Zap presses his back against the building behind him to steady himself from the wind.
[00:06:20] He slowly scuts himself parallel to the gusts and with the next passing wind he dashes
[00:06:25] across to the large doors.
[00:06:27] Zap knocks on the door and a slit opens, a strange looking light blue translucent eyeball pops
[00:06:33] into view.
[00:06:34] Who is?
[00:06:35] I'm Zap!
[00:06:37] Drew must be the boy who helps the future.
[00:06:39] El Zap, gukiracha, abre la poeta.
[00:06:42] The doors swiftly slide open.
[00:06:44] Zap jumps in behind him the doors close and shift with a loud bump.
[00:06:49] Hola Zap, nuestro amigo del pasado.
[00:06:52] Our friend from the past.
[00:06:54] Bienvenido al año 28-12.
[00:06:57] Welcome to 28-12.
[00:06:59] Surely you recognize me from my most famous news reporting and weather coverage.
[00:07:04] I'm known throughout the world wherever a storm is, Ramón de Luyo follows.
[00:07:10] Wow!
[00:07:11] That's awesome!
[00:07:12] I was just learning about hurricane hunters in science class.
[00:07:16] Takuladen!
[00:07:17] So surely your research was about me.
[00:07:19] Um, yes, yes Mr. Deluvio.
[00:07:22] I'm sure you're a very accomplished meteorologist.
[00:07:26] Ramón de Luyo is tall and thin dressed in a flashy three-piece black suit with a shimmery
[00:07:33] gold tie.
[00:07:34] He has a waist length white cape with an intricate design of golden rhinestone raindrops
[00:07:39] draped over his shoulders.
[00:07:41] His shoulder length blonde hair sways as he walks briskly through the news and weather
[00:07:46] station.
[00:07:47] That's a cool cape Mr. Deluvio are capes fashionable in this decade.
[00:07:52] Muchas gracias Zap, my stylist gets inspiration from the ancient TV legend Walter Mercado.
[00:07:59] Yes, con mucho, mucho amor.
[00:08:01] Uh, I think I have where I used to watch him on TV maybe.
[00:08:06] As they walked towards the far end of the station, Zap sees high-tech weather instruments,
[00:08:11] hollow maps, a rotating geoboard globe showing real-time wind movements and air pressure
[00:08:16] changes.
[00:08:17] There are researchers and bots frantically running around, shouting commands in full Spanish
[00:08:22] and English.
[00:08:23] Wow, seems like Spanish we came in official language.
[00:08:27] See Zap, do you speak Spanish?
[00:08:30] Yeah, my mom and I would have taught me Spanish.
[00:08:34] Mr. Deluvio takes Zap towards a giant desk.
[00:08:37] Behind the desk there's a projection on the wall of what looks like a map of islands with
[00:08:41] a dark red circling storm.
[00:08:43] Wow, that's the biggest hurricane I've ever seen!
[00:08:47] In your time Zap, Hurricanes season affected the tropics between June and November, with
[00:08:54] weather patterns shifting and rising sea levels, Mexico.
[00:08:58] Now expects Hurricanes year around with the stagnant superstorm season picking in the
[00:09:04] month of October.
[00:09:06] You are seeing firsthand what we call las islas del viento or windy irls.
[00:09:11] Wow, so Hurricanes are now systems that hover over an area and don't leave for weeks
[00:09:18] at a time?
[00:09:19] And sometimes even months Zap, mesis!
[00:09:23] But you are in luck, Hurricanes monster is expected to only be here through next week.
[00:09:28] So it looks like this is pretty high-tech monitoring systems and Mexico has a depth to these
[00:09:34] superstorms.
[00:09:35] Well, why do you need my help?
[00:09:37] Well, the Ura Gang Mostasa is not the problem.
[00:09:40] It's the migration of Frank empires.
[00:09:43] These dreadful creatures have started moving here from their native land of Alaska.
[00:09:49] It started two storms ago during Hurricane Mayonesa which was followed by Hurricane ketchup.
[00:09:55] Those two storms combined into a long superstorm.
[00:10:00] Si, cuiracha!
[00:10:02] Superstorm Mayo Chop had me on the air 24-7.
[00:10:05] It was fantastic.
[00:10:07] All of Mexico was tuned into my weather forecast but I regress.
[00:10:11] Frankenpires are unadapted species that have been exiled in Alaska for centuries.
[00:10:17] Half Frankenstein, half vampiro, they thrive in the cold dark climate of the most northernist
[00:10:24] hemisphere.
[00:10:25] No se que hace aquí en México.
[00:10:28] They should not be here in Mexico but they are and they are causing all sorts of chaos.
[00:10:33] They have taken over our tourist resorts, our beach cabanas, our cantinas and street taco
[00:10:39] stands.
[00:10:40] That's what I saw outside.
[00:10:42] I thought it was some sort of day of the dead celebration.
[00:10:45] No, we have a few weeks until the day of the dead.
[00:10:50] But they threatened to ruin our festivities honoring our ancestors too.
[00:10:54] Es un desastre.
[00:10:56] Hmm, half Frankenstein, half vampir?
[00:10:58] My brother Jay would love them but that Frankenpire I saw outside was quite creepy.
[00:11:04] I can see why you have a problem.
[00:11:06] Seize app creepy and deed.
[00:11:09] They make me so nervous.
[00:11:12] The group is startled by a loud knock at the center noticier outdoors.
[00:11:17] Cucuracha, quickly reinforce the doors.
[00:11:24] Don't let them come in.
[00:11:26] Ah, okay senior deluvio, which button reinforces?
[00:11:31] I can't remember.
[00:11:33] Oh, okay, I think it's this green button.
[00:11:41] Stone doors retracting.
[00:11:43] Access granted.
[00:11:45] Cucuracha was so nervous she presses the wrong button.
[00:11:48] A group of Frankenpires starts to enter tall Frankenpires with short cames and Hawaiian
[00:11:53] shirts walk in with arms extended.
[00:11:55] Short and pale Frankenpires wearing swimsuits fly in, two very tall thin pale green Frankenpires
[00:12:02] shaking maracas dance in.
[00:12:04] Blah, blah, blah, blah.
[00:12:07] Ah, let's take a selfie.
[00:12:13] Blah, blah, blah.
[00:12:15] Where is the conga line?
[00:12:18] We need to take over this way zap.
[00:12:20] Let's hide behind my trusty weather forecasting green screen.
[00:12:23] It shall protect us from these Frankenpires.
[00:12:26] Everyone runs frantically for cover as the Frankenpires pour into the newsroom.
[00:12:30] Zap sees a large shadow in the back moving closer.
[00:12:33] The lumbering figure is so large it squats under the doorframe to enter the office.
[00:12:39] Ah, blah, um, green must eat.
[00:12:49] Ah, good, golly.
[00:12:53] It's a giant Frankenpire and it's going to eat us everybody hide.
[00:13:02] Great job on this episode.
[00:13:04] Zap, Jay and Mom.
[00:13:05] Part of the homeschooling morning routine revolved around creating new characters like Frankenpires
[00:13:10] and cookie racha setting up the story structure and knocking out a fantastic script that stays
[00:13:15] true to Zap's story format.
[00:13:17] Will zap and his friends escape the horde of Frankenpires?
[00:13:20] Will zap come up with a solution that helps Mexico City in the year 2812 but the most important
[00:13:25] question of all why were some of the Frankenpires in swimsuits so many questions for Zap and
[00:13:30] for the future.
[00:13:31] Tune in next time for more, Zap to the future.
[00:13:33] Hey Zap, hey Mom!
[00:13:36] So this year since you're back at homeschool we are doing something a little different right?
[00:13:40] Yeah, now you've read in a full series for Zap to the future before and that was moon battles
[00:13:46] but usually in our writing process what we do is throw out ideas and maybe Mom and Dad
[00:13:53] kind of flesh it out.
[00:13:54] Mostly Dad he's really good at putting together all the ideas we throw at him and bringing
[00:14:00] a cohesive story together and then as he's doing that we go through it and we say no
[00:14:04] let's add this.
[00:14:05] He'll ask us for details and funny jokes and names and stuff like that but usually Dad
[00:14:13] is our main story writer and he puts everything together he's amazing at it.
[00:14:17] Yes, but this year we're trying something a little different where we actually outline
[00:14:23] the story and write as much of as possible and then he comes in and does some finishing
[00:14:29] touches and that's what happened with the Frank Empire episode.
[00:14:33] Let me barge in here for a second and just reiterate that you did a fantastic job with this
[00:14:38] script.
[00:14:39] Thanks Dad, writing was a bunch of fun!
[00:14:44] While Zap visited a fictitious future in the middle of a super storm this episode in
[00:14:49] real life a major hurricane hit part of Mexico on October 25th.
