[00:00:00] Hello and welcome to the greatest adventure across time, Zap to the Future!
[00:00:14] As you may recall from last episode, Zap is trying to help organize a beach cleanup
[00:00:21] in the year 4196.
[00:00:23] Can he inspire future people to help?
[00:00:25] Will Tennessee's volunteer spirit be reignited by a 21st century kid from Chattanooga?
[00:00:30] Keep listening to find out!
[00:00:31] If you're listening for the first time, we encourage you to hit pause and on over to episode
[00:00:35] 1 and catch up on Zap's adventure so far.
[00:00:38] For now, we are launching straight into the story, enjoy Zap to the Future, Episode 15
[00:00:43] The Volunteer State Returns, Kawabanga!
[00:00:54] Zap, Rad and Shell walk towards the beach entrance discouraged at their efforts to organize
[00:01:00] a volunteer beach cleanup isn't working.
[00:01:02] The group stands at Walnut and Frazier, waiting.
[00:01:05] Zap sees Biles walking dogbots, vendor bots selling beach juices, and little kids scooting
[00:01:10] on hover skates passing by.
[00:01:12] No one stops to help!
[00:01:14] Our scans didn't work, Rad!
[00:01:16] Our hollow beep didn't work time either!
[00:01:19] What do we do next, eh?
[00:01:21] Zap looks around and scratches his head.
[00:01:23] The bots don't work and there's too much trash and beach for only 3 people to clean
[00:01:29] up before tomorrow's surf con.
[00:01:31] We need volunteers, but no one wants to help.
[00:01:34] I don't know what to do!
[00:01:36] We might need to cancel the surf con!
[00:01:39] Zap looks down, disappointed.
[00:01:41] He's volunteered for all type of work.
[00:01:43] He's cleaned up different places with his scout troop, participated in school service projects,
[00:01:48] helped neighbors and sees others around him do the same.
[00:01:51] With bots doing all the manual labor in this future, everyone has been conditioned towards
[00:01:55] avoiding things like cleaning up.
[00:01:57] Zap hears a voice and looks up.
[00:01:59] Howdy y'all!
[00:02:00] My pals and I got your hollow beep!
[00:02:02] We hovered over here to help clean time.
[00:02:05] My name's Cannon.
[00:02:06] This is Flaka and her friend Nut Goku.
[00:02:09] Or now, Nut Goku is a cyborg coconut.
[00:02:12] He doesn't talk much but loves to help.
[00:02:14] And these are the lookout bot twins, beep and boop.
[00:02:21] The group of volunteers has spirit despite their small number.
[00:02:25] Cannon short and stout.
[00:02:27] He's ready for work with his hollow cowboy hat boots and swim shorts.
[00:02:30] Flaka's tall and lanky.
[00:02:32] She has gloves and hover bags ready.
[00:02:34] Nut Coco is indeed half coconut and half cyborg.
[00:02:37] Nut Coco floats around when not using short crab like feet to scurry about.
[00:02:42] Beep and boop are strange looking bots.
[00:02:44] They have scanners for arms, glowing chest blades and gear gyros for legs.
[00:02:48] Beep boop beep beep.
[00:02:51] Flaka passes out hover bags and they all start to clean up.
[00:02:55] What's up, vials and bots!
[00:02:57] Can I give you a hand with beach clean time?
[00:03:00] Look who it is!
[00:03:02] Oh wow!
[00:03:03] It's Luke Hicks and the champion server.
[00:03:05] What's not worry so much about surfing?
[00:03:08] We have a beach to clean time.
[00:03:11] Thanks Mr. Hicks and Zap thinks to himself.
[00:03:13] Wow!
[00:03:14] The Hicks and are still part of Hamilton County.
[00:03:16] Even in 4196 from settlers to future surf champions, that's pretty cool!
[00:03:23] The group starts cleaning up.
[00:03:24] Others see their effort and begin pitching in.
[00:03:26] Soon all types of vials and bots are helping clean up the beach.
[00:03:31] Scuba box sweep the shore for plastic particles.
[00:03:33] Instead of making sandcastles young vials run up and down picking up litter.
[00:03:37] The strong bots and vials haul off the heavy hover bags.
[00:03:40] To look out bot twins, even repair some of the damaged garbage bots.
[00:03:44] The group of volunteers grows quickly.
[00:03:47] It boop boop boop boop boop boop.
[00:03:51] This is like a clean up event with boy scouts or the cleanup kids.
[00:03:55] What is a cleanup kids?
[00:03:57] The cleanup kids is an organization that promotes volunteer clean events.
[00:04:01] They organize clean ups along rivers, forests and oceans.
[00:04:06] Scans like those volunteers really help the environment.
[00:04:11] They sure do!
[00:04:12] One of the founders is a kid from Chanyuha.
[00:04:15] His name's Cash.
[00:04:16] He's cleaned up and recycled tons of litter.
[00:04:19] His volunteerism inspires others to do the same.
[00:04:22] Where?
[00:04:23] You and Cash aren't inspiring us.
[00:04:25] Bebo, bebo, bebo, bebo.
[00:04:27] Yeah, we should start our own cleanup kids.
[00:04:30] That would be high five.
[00:04:31] There's plenty of clean time to do.
[00:04:35] Speaking of clean time.
[00:04:36] Zap and the others look around.
[00:04:38] The volunteer group has finished cleaning and Chattanooga Beach looks spectacular again.
[00:04:43] Bios and bots.
[00:04:45] I just hollow beaped beach patrol HQ.
[00:04:48] Thanks to all volunteers, we cleaned up just in time.
[00:04:52] The beach is reopened for tomorrow's surfing comp.
[00:04:56] With the beach cleaned up and the surf comp back on schedule, Zap's work in 4196 is done.
[00:05:02] But before he travels back to the present, Ken and Red ask Zap to address the group.
[00:05:07] Zap opens his time tablet and scrolls over to the tool icon.
[00:05:10] He finds the megaphone tile and pulls out the hard light megaphone.
[00:05:15] Hello!
[00:05:17] Bios and bots in my time!
[00:05:22] Tennesseans and people across the world practice volunteering.
[00:05:28] The time we give to others.
[00:05:30] It's very special.
[00:05:32] I hope these achievements of today stay with you and volunteerism spreads across Chattanooga
[00:05:40] Beach and beyond!
[00:05:45] Like you toaps helped clean time zap.
[00:05:48] Next time you visit Chattanooga Beach, we can hoverboard over to look out bag catch some
[00:05:52] serious waves.
[00:05:53] Look out Bay is toaps city.
[00:05:58] We can crush some waves together.
[00:05:59] Sounds like a plan.
[00:06:01] Close your eyes and scares everyone.
[00:06:03] It's going to get bright.
[00:06:04] Weller, get ready to time port jump back home!
[00:06:09] Ready on your command, Zap?
[00:06:11] Zap pulls up Red's message on the time tablet and taps return.
[00:06:15] The time port jump initiates.
[00:06:17] Countdown.
[00:06:18] Five.
[00:06:19] Four.
[00:06:20] Three.
[00:06:21] Two.
[00:06:22] One.
[00:06:23] Zap poses his eyes tightly as the beach fills with a kaleidoscope of colors.
[00:06:27] The time tablet activates and releases a spurt of time tagging.
[00:06:31] The techieons again circle around the time tablet and zap.
[00:06:35] Even with his eyes closed, Zap can make out the bright red, purple and green streaks of
[00:06:39] light whizzing by as the hairs on the back of his neck and arms stand up.
[00:06:43] Then as quickly as the lights appear they are gone.
[00:06:46] Zap slowly opens one eye and then the other.
[00:06:48] He looks around and realizes he is home.
[00:06:51] Zap can hear his brother coming up the stairs and towards the playroom.
[00:06:54] Gotta hide this time tablet!
[00:06:56] Zap double taps the device and it goes into watch camel mode as Jay walks in.
[00:07:00] Wanna have an epic laser sword battle?
[00:07:04] Always!
[00:07:05] Zap and Jay grab their foam sabre and square off.
[00:07:09] The boys play sword for a while and go about the day hanging out at home.
[00:07:13] Mom makes spaghetti for dinner and they watch an episode of Monk before bed.
[00:07:19] The next day at school, Zap has some of his favorite classes.
[00:07:23] Math, social studies and coding.
[00:07:28] Good afternoon class!
[00:07:30] Let's finish last week's troubleshooting exercise.
[00:07:35] Check your breadboard diodes and LED connections.
[00:07:39] Then open your terminal and start loop coding.
[00:07:44] Mrs. Sitwell walks among the students.
[00:07:47] Zap checks his tech and starts coding.
[00:07:50] Quotation, exclamation mark, comma, tation mark, closed parenthesis.
[00:07:59] Zap looks down at his watch and sees a future message.
[00:08:03] The message title reads 2812.
[00:08:05] Ayua helps stop the Frankenpire migration.
[00:08:08] What's a Frankenpire?
[00:08:10] Is everything okay, Mr. Zap?
[00:08:15] Yes ma'am!
[00:08:17] I forgot to say this is my watch alarm.
[00:08:22] Hmm, that's an interesting looking watch, Mr. Zap.
[00:08:28] Thanks.
[00:08:29] I don't remember you starting the school year with this watch.
[00:08:34] I got it a couple months ago.
[00:08:37] A couple months ago.
[00:08:39] Interesting.
[00:08:41] Mrs. Sitwell takes a long look at Zap's watch and slowly walks away.
[00:08:46] Zap thinks to himself.
[00:08:47] Wow, Mrs. Sitwell is acting pretty sauce.
[00:08:51] Mrs. Sitwell's suspicious question is quickly forgotten as Zap refocuses on the future message.
[00:08:57] Hmm, Ayua that's Spanish for help!
[00:09:01] I wonder what's a Frankenpire?
[00:09:05] How a bunga Zap fans from helping clean up Chattanooga Beach to Frankenpires.
[00:09:11] It must be October and we have a spooky adventure ahead.
[00:09:15] What's up with Creeper Mrs. Sitwell?
[00:09:17] Can Zap keep the time tablet a secret?
[00:09:20] How will the next future environment be different?
[00:09:22] We will find out next episode, but the most important question is where can you volunteer
[00:09:28] your time to help your community?
[00:09:30] So many questions for Zap and for the future.
[00:09:32] Who in next time for more?
[00:09:34] Zap to the future!
[00:09:36] Hi son.
[00:09:39] Hi dad.
[00:09:40] Do you know where I lived as a boy?
[00:09:44] South Florida.
[00:09:45] That's right, when I was about your age I lived in Miami Beach.
[00:09:50] Oh cool, I loved the beach.
[00:09:52] So do I.
[00:09:53] It was really fun to incorporate Miami Beach into the story and into where we lived out.
[00:09:58] Yeah, Chattanooga Tennessee.
[00:10:00] Can you imagine Chattanooga really having a beach?
[00:10:03] That would be awesome.
[00:10:04] Then I can climb and serve.
[00:10:07] Very cool and very fun, but not when everything is full of trash.
[00:10:10] You're right.
[00:10:11] Recently I picked up a bunch of trash in a river with yes.
[00:10:15] I remember seeing those pictures.
[00:10:17] It's hard to believe that you pulled so much trash and tires out of the river.
[00:10:21] Yeah, it was like eight trash bags and five tires.
[00:10:25] That's crazy.
[00:10:26] So you understand that working together everyone doing a little bit accomplishes?
[00:10:31] A lot.
[00:10:32] There's cleanups everywhere across the globe.
[00:10:35] And if you put just a couple hours into cleaning up your nearest trail or river,
[00:10:40] then maybe more people will notice and clean up more, which helps the world.
[00:10:44] Use your time to help the environment.
